Himalayan Chakra Orientation

Himalayan Chakra Orientation

The subject of chakras is complex. Here are some basic principles that are helpful in understanding the way chakras apply to the ancient practice of sound healing. Chakra roughly translates to mean wheel, representing an energy center. These energy centers may spin too quickly, too slowly, or become blocked and not spin at all, creating an imbalance within our minds and bodies. We can target those imbalances directly.

In Himalayan Regions such as Tibet and Nepal sound healers use singing bowls to target those imbalances. A hand-made singing bowl, has one predominant note, but you will also hear a range of notes from the bowl as well. The primary note is the note that determines the chakra orientation it specifically targets.

Himalayan sound healers use a different orientation of note-to-chakra than is used in the west. We were originally trained in ancient sound healing in Nepal, therefore our practice corresponds with the the Himalayan scale. We use the Himalayan scale during our Healing Through Sound sessions, and in organizing our curated collections of singing bowls
